Official statements say that the oldest parts of the fort were built as early as the year 500 BC. The fort was in a very bad situation in the second half of the last century, and the Omani government decided to start a serious restoration of project of it in the year 1988 which only finished in May 2012. We continue to Jibreen Castle-entrance fee not include, dates back to 1670. Its design and construction were supervised by the Al Immam BilArab bin Sultan Al Y`aribi. This fort was a beautiful palace for the Immam and his family and a bastion during wartime. It was also a beacon of education and contained many study rooms. Continue to Nizwa Fort for a brief stop.
