12 Days Tanzania Northern Circuit And Pemba Island
In these 12 days of your stay in Tanzania, you will have 4 days in Tanzania Northern Circuit, visiting Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and Materumi Water Falls in Moshi – Kilimanjaro using the custom designed 4×4 safari vehicles with open roofs for game viewing and 8 days on the beautiful island of Pemba in Zanzibar. While Tarangire is spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife species come back to the permanent waters of the Tarangire River, Ngorongoro Crater is the best place in Tanzania to see black rhino as well as prides of lion that include the magnificent black-manned males. This is the only National Parks which accommodates lions, leopard, cheetah, hyena wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and Maasai people in one place. We will also visit Metarumi Village for the full day village tour where you will visit coffee and banana plantations, swim on the water fall, see Mount Kilimanjaro from the top of Waterfall etc..etc… This charming place is just 15km away from Moshi Town and is the last village before the Kilimanjaro National Park. .
The last 8 days will be spent in the beautiful island of Pemba. This is the 2nd largest island in Zanzibar archipelago at 381 sq. miles, located north of the island of Unguja (Zanzibar) and the coastal city of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. Although its thickly vegetated hills are home to a densely-populated farming community, Pemba is still vastly undiscovered by tourists. The isle is greener with hospitable people, brilliant beaches, lovely culture and more peaceful than other islands. For tourists who wish to relax and escape the crowds, this destination is ideal!
The best and most recommended landing time at Kilimanjaro International Airport is between 04h00 – 09h00.

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport with your morning Flight, you will meet our Driver Guide and proceed to Tarangire National Park, arriving in time for a game drive with your Picnic lunch in the Park. Tarangire National Park is in northern Tanzania, just south of Lake Manyara. This is a protected area of colossal baobabs, grassy plains and huge herds of elephant. The park is one of the most underrated of Tanzania’s attractions, receiving just a fraction of the Serengeti’s visitors, which means more space and exclusivity for those who do make it to Tarangire. As well as 300-strong herds of elephant, visitors will find big groups of buffalo and healthy populations of lion and leopard. During the dry season, Tarangire has the highest concentration of mammals in the country. There are wild dog and rare antelope such as gerenuk, plus more than 550 species of birds to spot throughout the year. Tarangire is the ideal park for those who want to explore beyond game drives. Walk through the savannah to study the smallest creatures and learn about tracking animals. Dinner and stay overnight on full board basis.

After early breakfast we drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area down the crater for a crater tour with your picnic lunch. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) in northern Tanzania is home to one of the most spectacular safari experiences on the continent. Part of the Serengeti ecosystem – definitely one of the Tanzania’s must-see places – the landscape of this 829,200-hectare UNESCO World Heritage Site ranges from short-grass plains, grazed by dazzles of zebra and large herds of wildebeest, to placid crater lakes and volcanic peaks wreathed in cloud. The famous Ngorongoro Crater — one of the new Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and the feature from which the NCA takes its name — is the world’s largest inactive and empty volcanic caldera, formed 2 to 3 million years ago. Around 25,000 large animals live in the 30,000-hectare crater, including lion, black rhino and elephant. Spend a day on safari in the crater, pausing for a special lunch in the bush. After lunch we will drive to Maasai Boma to experience another spectacular and natural attraction of which Ngorongoro conservation area is offering. The Maasai came to this area 200 years ago and they have progressively chased the Barbaig who moved to the border of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, near the Lake Eyasi; in this way the Maasai remained the only ethnic group in this area. This is the only place in Tanzania where men can inhabit a protected area. Thet build their own villages and lead their cattle to pasture and move freely all around. After the tour, we drive back to the Lodge for dinner and stay overnight on full board basis at Kudu Lodge & Campsite.

At 08h00 after breakfast we drive to Wesha where we will take our boat to Misali island. This island is world famous for it’s corals and nature. The island offers idyllic beaches and nature trails. Misali’s treasure is its rich ecosystem which boasts 42 types of corals, over 300 species of fish, a rare subspecies of vervet monkeys, rarely seen coconut crabs and a nesting site for green and hawksbill turtles. Snorkeling here is breath-taking! Even close to the beach it’s possible to see bigger fishes. Unlike most places in Pemba, the tides make no difference to these activities. Among the locals, Misali has religious status as they believe the prophet Hadhara used the island as his prayer mat. The strong Islamic environmental maintenance ethic is used to support management and environment education, and the island is a 'sacred gift' to the earth from the Islamic faith as part of an ecumenical Millennium celebration arranged by the World Wildlife Fund in Nepal in November 2000. We will spend some time in the forest before we come to the shore for swimming, snorkeling and beach leisure. After the tour we take lunch and relax.
