2 Days Pemba Island Tour
These 2 days holiday package takes you to Pemba Island. Pemba is one of the most densely populated areas of Tanzania, with most of the people living in fairly traditionally-designed square houses, built using mud walls around a wooden frame and with roofs of thatch or corrugated iron. Pemba’s main town, and the island’s administrative capital, is Chake Chake – and that’s where the island’s airport is. While on the island you visit either Kidike or Macho Mane to watch the friendly bates of Pemba – Gigantic fruit bates indigenous to Pemba Island which gives visitors a great opportunity to see these creatures up close. These are the Africa’s largest bat species, a type of fruit bat with a wing span of up to 70cm and can weigh in at around half a kilo. You will also discover what Pemba is offering in terms of wildlife. You will visit the Rain Ngezi Forest which is covering an area of 3,600 acres, mostly comprising primary forest. Common species include Monkeys, bush babies, fruit bats and different kinds of birds. You will also see flowers, spices and natural lakes and visit some cultural centers.

After meet and greet at Pemba Airport we drive to kidike Flying Fox Forest to watch the friendly bates of Pemba – Gigantic fruit bates indigenous to Pemba Island which gives visitors a great opportunity to see these creatures up close. Gathering in a mixed-sex groups of up to 850 individuals to roost, the Pemba flying fox creates quite a spectacle. These are the Africa’s largest bat species, a type of fruit bat with a wing span of up to 70cm and can weigh in at around half a kilo. We will spend between 30 minutes before we drive to Pemba Paradise Beach Hotel which is located in the heart of Pemba Island with a unique blend of contemporary luxury and historic heritage, deluxe accommodations, superb amenities, genuine hospitality and dedicated service for an elevated experience in the White-Sandy Beach. There are 8 Seaview suites with a sleeping and a sitting area plus 8 standard double rooms. Most rooms are furnished with one big double bed. All the suites have additional daybeds, which can be used for sleeping as well. Each room has a private ensuite bathroom and a veranda. Dinner and stay overnight on half board basis.

After breakfast we checkout and take a road transfer to Ngezi Rain Forest at 08h00. This Forest Reserve is covering an area of 3,600 acres, mostly comprising primary forest. Mjoho is the most common tree species of Ngezi's moist forest. Its canopy can be up to 35 meters above the ground. Another common species in Ngezi is Mgulele, its broad crown of which can grow up to 45 meters. There are also monkeys, bush babies, fruit bats, different kinds of birds, flowers, spices and natural lakes. If you are interested, we can take some more time with you visiting the "cultural areas " these are parts of the forest which are sacred and people periodically sweep and clean to appease their ances tors. These sacred places called "MIZIMU" are used for prayers, requests and offerings to the spirits of the dead. After the tour we drive to Chake Chake Town for Lunch and leisure at Pemba Misali Beach until 15h00 when we leave for Pemba Airport to Catch our flight to Dar es salaam, Zanzibar or to any other destination.
